Why it’s okay to take a break from blogging

You may have noticed I’ve been taking a break from blogging and social media over the past couple of months or so. Once I felt ready to start getting back into things again, it made sense to write a blog post about this. I love people in the blogging world are always going on about being consistent in how you should update your blog on a regular basis and be consistent. By all means, be consistent, but if you need to take a break. Take one.

If you’re having to push yourself to write a blog post every week and maybe it’s time to take a break. I recently decided to take a break from blogging and social media. Between ongoing health problems, being busy with freelance work and with other projects blogging and social media was a huge time suck. I just didn’t feel like I had the energy for it.

It’s okay to take a break without losing your audience. If you feel you need to take a break take one. Don’t push yourself or your only lead yourself to burnout physically and creatively.

Here are some tips on why it’s okay to take a break from blogging:

If you’re feeling uninspired

Sometimes when you have a lot going on your life whether it be work, family or other commitments. If you’re feeling completely uninspired, it can often be good to take a break and give yourself time to find inspiration again.

If you feel you don’t have time to do it well

I can tell when some of my favourite bloggers don’t have time to write very good blog posts. You can often see in their content when it seems too rushed. It’s not worth doing a blog post if you don’t have the time and effort put into it.

Remember why you started blogging

If you are struggling with your blog and feeling overwhelmed and completely uninspired, a great way of overcoming this is to go back to the beginning. What made you start blogging in the first place? What inspired you to start blogging? What made you want to start writing your blog?

For example, I started writing my blog due to my love of writing stories and this was a natural progression towards blogging and sharing my knowledge with others.

Have a rest and recharge

Blogging can take a lot out of you both physically and creatively. As well as writing the actual content, designing images, then sharing and promoting on social media this can take a lot of time and effort. It’s okay to have a break, to rest and relax for a while.

Having a break from blogging these past two weeks has definitely done me good. I feel more inspired to get back into blogging again.

Have you ever taken a break or wanted to take a break from blogging?
