Nanowrimo is coming on the 1st of November. For those of you new to the concept of Nanowrimo, Nanowrimo is Short for National Novel Writing Month. Every November writers around the world take part in this event to write a 50,000 word novel in only 30 days throughout November. You can find out more about it here

Talking to my local writing group and reading different writing groups online I found out that many new writers were wearing to go to take part in the event. Where as other more wstablished writers, especially those with regular publication schedules, are often too busy to take part this year.

So should you take part in Nanowrimo?

Taking part in national novel writing month can be great, especially for new writers. If you’re looking for a way to start writing your first novel or book, this can teach you The discipline of how to write regularly. It’s also a great excuse to finally start writing your first book.

reasons to take part to take part in Nanowrimo:

  • You’ve always wanted to write a book. Or you promised yourself you would one day write a book, but never got round to actually doing it.
  • Taking part in Nano means you won’t be alone, you’ll be supported by other writers.
  • You started writing novels in the past but never got very far with them.
  • You’ve always wanted to take part but never had the courage to.
  • Your friends or local writing group are taking part.
  • Or maybe you’re just curious to see what writing a novel would be like.

Writing 50,000 words in a month nothing like a daunting task but by narrowing it down, it actually only consistutes to around 1,667 words per day. I’m not taking part in Nano this year as I’m too busy with other projects.

If you’re looking to finally start writing your first book, I definitely recommend taking part.

So are you taking part in Nanowrimo this year? What are you planning to write?
